Hannah

hey :-) i'm Hannah, i'm a 17 year old a level student. at the age of 2 i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, this is a chronic condition that requires lifelong treatment because of this i've pretty much grown up in the nhs. being surrounded by the paediatric doctors and nurses from such a young age had a huge influence on me. the care i have received has been truly amazing , the people who've looked after me the very best the nhs had to offer.

originally i wanted to go into medicine but unfortunately didnt get the grades, something that had been playing in the back of my mind even before i got my grades was did i want to go into nursing or medicine? i know that to me my dsn made a huge difference to me, she gave me another long time type  1 to look up to someone who was often  more involved in my care than my doctors. i am also a young leader for diabetes uk and a youth ambassador for jrdf (juvenile diabetes research foundation) for me these positions made me realise how passionate i am about helping children and teens with type 1. after this the choice was rather obvious to try and get into childrens nursing and then hopefully become a dsn eventually.

this blog is hosted by me and a fellow diabetic as we both take different routes into nursing, one adult and one childrens nurse. i hope you enjoy our blog :)
